Lendlease Podium | #DigitalTradies: All A-Boat Cam Creigh, Product Design Lead And... Dolphin?

Welcome to the third episode of #DigitalTradies!

In this series, we catch up with some very awesome people in the Lendlease Digital family (we call “Digital Tradies”) to find out what they do and what they’re working on right now, with Podium.

Earlier today, we spoke with Cam Creigh - Product Design Lead for Podium Envision at Lendlease Digital.

Tell us about yourself
I enjoy sailing! Usually on the weekends I spend a bit of time on the water. I do a bit of offshore sailing and a bit of inshore in the harbour. It’s a great passion of mine. I enjoy the teamwork, there’s a bit of skill in it, and a bit of socialising as well! I'm also the Product Design Lead for Podium Envision - a tool that empowers development teams to find development opportunities and understand the feasibility much faster than they can today.

How did you get your start in Product Design?
When I first joined Lendlease, I was a Graduate Engineer, so I was always onsite delivering projects for our customers. From my time onsite I developed a passion for trying to improve the way that we worked – not just in Lendlease, but in the broader industry. That’s what led me to study product design (in my own time) and put me in the position I have today with Podium.

Can you tell us a little bit more about your role within Podium Envision?
At the moment I’m leading the Product Design team in Podium Envision. We take the product vision and roadmap and distil that down into succinct user requirements. We also conduct user research with internal and external stakeholders to understand their pain points and try and come up with solutions that can solve or better address those pain points.

Where do you see the future of Podium Envision?
Well, where we’re heading with Podium Envision, and all of Podium, is to get to Autonomous Buildings. Not sure what the horizon is for that – might be 10 years, might be a little bit longer, but Podium Envision is the starting point for all of Podium and is going to play a big role in getting to that vision.

What inspires you to log in every day?
Every day I think of how grateful I am that I get the opportunity to contribute to change in this industry. With some of our very ambitious sustainability targets and what we’re doing in Lendlease Digital, there’s no other place to be to really change the future.

What are your words of wisdom for aspiring Digital Tradies?
It's important to always be curious. Don’t be scared of asking questions. Challenge the thinking of others as well as your own thinking and biases. And carve out time to dig in and do some deeper work. We’re surrounded by distractions today - sometimes you need to turn the phone off or turn the notifications off and really dig in, because when you give something your full thought, it’s pretty amazing what our brains can come up with!

Finally, what is your spirit animal?
I think I’ve got to go with dolphin. I love being on the water, I’m an early riser, some people think I’m somewhat intelligent (although I question that myself sometimes) and I think that’s it!
